The Torrance County Commission is accepting letters of interest from the populace of District 1 and District 2 to fill two vacancies on the Planning and Zoning board. Eligible applicants for appointment to the Planning and Zoning Board shall meet the following minimum requirements:

A. Own or be purchasing land to reside in Torrance County.

B. Is not already serving on a board or commission elsewhere in Torrance County.

C. Is not employed by Torrance County.

These positions will begin July 1, 2026. Board members are appointed to a three-year term. They are eligible to be reappointed to a second three-year term. Board members are limited to two consecutive terms. Letters of interest must be received by the Torrance County Planning & Zoning office no later than 5:00 pm on May 27, 2026. Applicants will be interviewed by the Commissioners on june 10, 2026 at their regular meeting which begins at 9:00 am. and the appointment will be decided. Mail letters of interest to Torrance County ATTN> Planning & Zoning, P.O. Box 48, Estancia, N.M, 87016, or hand deliver to the Planning and Zoning office in the County administration building located at 205 South 9th street, Estancia.

 

Inspection of Public Records Act: IPRA requests may be completed online, sent via email to IPRA@tcnm.us, or via U.S. Mail to the attention of the Records Custodian PO Box 48, Estancia, NM 87016. Forms can be submitted online here.

 

Mission Statement

The Planning and Zoning Division's mission is to promote orderly and quality development in the community by ensuring that all land use and development proposals conform to the County's Comprehensive Plan and Code of Ordinances.

What We Do

The Planning and Zoning department is responsible for reviewing building plans, issuing appropriate permits and inspecting building progress. They review zoning change requests and issue permits as needed.
