Training

The Torrance County Central Dispatch new hires will be required to go through 30 days classroom training, taught by our qualified instructors. After which they will then do on the job training in which they will always work along side other fully certified 911 call-takers/dispatchers for 6 to 11 months and then will be required to attend a 3 week NM State Academy in Santa Fe where they will acquire their certification.

During the period of on the job training the new hire will be required to obtain several mandatory certifications such as;

  • EMD – Emergency Medical Dispatch
  • NM Telecommunications
  • NCIC – National Crime Information Center
  • First Responder

Other trainings you will be required to attend:

  • Hazmat Awareness
  • CIM – Critical Incident Command
  • Fire Dispatch
  • Domestic Violence Training
  • Terrorist / WMD training
  • CAD Training

After the new hire becomes certified in the NM Law Enforcement Academy they will be required to continue training throughout the length of their career on many more subjects than those that are listed. Continued training is also necessary to keep certifications up to date.

Anyone interested in a career in this exciting field will need to pick up an application at the Torrance County Offices located in Estancia and then return them at the same place.
